It might not seem that close, but before we know it, the 2026 election cycle will be here. Blount County, the State of Tennessee, and our country as a whole will be electing local officials, Governors, Congressmen, and Senators.

In Tennessee, a U.S. Senate seat, all nine Congressional seats, the Governor’s office, half of the State Senate, and all 99 State House seats will be up for election.

Locally in Blount County, the following offices will be on the ballot:

  • Sheriff

  • County Mayor

  • County Trustee

  • Register of Deeds

  • County Clerk

  • Circuit Court Clerk

  • County Highway Superintendent
(*Note: The Property Assessor will not be up for election this cycle.)

In addition:

  • All 21 County Commission seats will be on the ballot.

  • Four County School Board seats — Districts 1, 3, 5, and 7 — will be on the ballot.

  • Both of our State House seats, District 8 and District 20, will be on the ballot.

At the municipal and city level:

  • Rockford City Commission: 2 of 3 seats

  • Friendsville City Commission: 3 of 5 seats

  • Townsend City Commission: 3 of 5 seats

  • Alcoa City Commission: 3 of 5 seats

  • Maryville City Council: 3 of 5 seats

For the city school boards:

  • Alcoa City School Board: 2 of 5 seats

  • Maryville City School Board: 3 of 5 seats

Additionally, elections will be held for our State Executive Committeeman and Committeewoman, who represent Blount County at the Tennessee Republican Party State Executive Committee.

We will also have our first open Governor’s election since 2018.

Please note: Our local judges, district attorney, and public defender will not be up for election this cycle, as they serve eight-year terms.

More dates and details will be provided once the primary elections are officially called and petition availability dates are announced.

It is important to remember: in the 2022 County Primary, only a little over 10,000 people voted — out of more than 70,000 registered voters in Blount County. Voting for President is important, but it is your city councils, commissions, mayors, sheriffs, county officials, and commissioners who are the most influential in your daily life — and the most accessible to you as a citizen.

Please continue to stay on standby — but more importantly, be aware that elections which influence our daily lives more than ever are fast approaching. It is critical that we work together to ensure that every official elected — at the national, state, county, and city levels — holds true to the conservative values that Blount County proudly shares.
